Atlanta Renegades Win Thriller Over Naples

In the USA Rugby South Division 1 championship semi-final on April 4th, the Atlanta Renegades came out victorious in a hard-fought 42-38 win over Naples on a late try by flyhalf Justin Germany, with only a few minutes left in the match.  The win set up a South championship final on Sunday with cross-town rivals Atlanta Old White, but more importantly, ensured a home match in the next round CR3 territorial crossover match against a team from the Midwest on April 25th. 

Unfortunately, the Renegades were not able to maintain their intensity from Saturday, and fell to Old White, 32-7, in the championship match on Sunday, to finish second in the USA Rugby South Division 1 championships.  The 2nd place finish means that the Renegades will host the Midwest's #3 seed Palmer in the next round CR3 territorial crossover match on April 25th.   The winner of that match will advance to the USA Rugby national Sweet 16 playoffs in Columbia, SC the weekend of May 16, 2009.
